FRANKLIN, TN — Williamson County Sheriff Jeff Long said he’s open to the idea of helping secure the county’s private school.
According to The Tennessean, County Mayor Rogers Anderson said “it would make me sleep better at night, our county commission sleep better at night, knowing we are doing the best we can with the best we got.”
The sheriff’s department already staffs the county’s public schools with trained school resource officers, but it’s up to private schools themselves to fund their own security. Long said private schools have a relationship and communication with law enforcement already to develop the best response in the event of an emergency and that some schools have reached out again in the wake of the deadly shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla.
The sheriff said “all of our kids are part of our jurisdiction,” according to the newspaper.
